Project Richmond

This garden was originally designed 10+ years ago to help a realtor quickly sell the house. Opaque plastic was put down and through punched holes, plants were placed. The original clay dirt wasn’t sustainable and the plants became sick once fertilizing was halted. This was a very common practice years ago but it’s not sustainable. We went in, removed the plastic and covered the old clay with bio-degradable cardboard, rich bio-mass and high drainage soil. Next we planted succulents and a few native drought resistant, pollinator plants such as Milkweed and Sage. Once they are established they require almost no irrigation and help our good insects out such as Bees and Butterflies and of course hummingbirds.
